Work is pretty good, working night shift 3:30pm-12am. The Mini is still awesome and fun to drive. Had to take it in the shop already for a faulty turbo valve, and now I have a tiny oil leak from the tranny I need to check out. I need to really customize it some more, I’m hoping to install a small sub woofer in the “boot” so I can crank up some Dubstep.</p> <p>I got the Star Wars Saga on Bluray, it’s awesome. Yes George Lucas chaged some scenes but its still the coolest blurays I own. I found a new job as IT phone support for Verizon Business in Lewisville, TX. It’s much more relaxed environment than Fry’s and a step in the right direction for working in IT. It also pays much better than Fry’s. I decided to test drive a few cars to replace my 13 year old honda accord. I wanted a small european car that was fun to drive and got good gas mileage. I drove a Jetta, Fiat 500, and a Mini Cooper S. The Fiat 500 was a fun car, small, agile and “cute”. Then I test drove the Mini Cooper S at  Carmax. I knew after taking off, the turbo kicks in and you’re hooked. So I worked everything out and got the extended warranty and drove home in a 2007 Mini Cooper S. This car is pretty decked out for the price, you get a keyless fob and push start, 6-speed transmission, 168HP turbo, 32mpg, alloy rims, sunroof, nice sound system. I’m driving about 80 miles a day to work so this makes the drive much more fun. Not much has been going on. Still working full time trying to pay off my education/mistakes and enjoying life. Anyway the only thing notable is my new drum set. I have been drumming on and off since I was a kid, my first junior set, then got a cheap prim ere kit, then a Roland TD-3 which I sold when I moved back to Texas. I decided electronics are nice but not the same feel and they end up being about as inconvenient to lug around because of the amp. </p> <p>So my income tax came in and I’ve been itching to play drums again. A while ago i got to sit in for a drummer who had a Gretsch kit and since then i liked the sound and feel of Gretsch kits. Looking around i found out the price gap between a beginner kit and pro kit was quite a bit. For gretsch it was the same. I also learned that there is a difference in qualities and types of wood used in drum shells. Luckily, when I went to Mr. E’s to see if they had kits the test that guitar center didn’t have, i found a decent Gretsch catalina maple 6-piece kit for a reasonable price. I also didn’t know much about cymbals and the differences in sounds, I figured they all sound the same. Obviously I’m wrong, I did find a reasonably priced pack of Sabian X20 cymbals they have the nice crisp sound I wanted in a cymbal. Overall it sounds pretty good. It has stock heads and isn’t tuned so that part sounds not so good.
